Oleh Herasymenko presented his credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Montenegro to the President of Montenegro on 29 July 2022.
Prior to his appointment as Ambassador to Montenegro, he served, from November 2020 to June 2022, as Director General of the Sixth Territorial Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Mr Herasymenko joined the Ministry in September 1994 upon graduation from the Institute of International Relations at the Kyiv Taras Shevchenko University.
From August 1997 to February 2002, he worked at the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations in New York and, from October 2005 to June 2009, as Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the International Organizations in Vienna.
He also served, from April 2002 to October 2005, as Head of Division and Deputy Director at the Ministry’s Policy and Planning Department.
In June 2009, he joined the Conflict Prevention Centre of the OSCE Secretariat where he worked as Senior Policy Support Officer and Head of the South East Europe Desk until December 2014.
In January 2015, he was appointed Ambassador-at-Large at the Directorate-General for International Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, and in January 2016 – Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry’s Directorate-General for International Organizations, serving as Head of the UN Security Council Membership Task Force in 2016-2017 and Head of the UN Human Rights Council Membership Task Force in 2018-2020.
Mr Herasymenko is married and has a daughter and a son.
