"We intend to deepen cooperation with Montenegro in the cultural and humanitarian spheres"

This was announced on June 11 by the Chargé d'Affaires of Ukraine in Montenegro Nataliia Fiyalka at the meeting with Mayor of Kotor Zeljko Aprkovic. During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of intensifying cooperation in the humanitarian, cultural, tourism and other areas of mutual interest. N.Fiyalka expressed readiness to deepen cooperation with various institutions of Kotor for the implementation of joint projects.

N. Fiyalka stressed that Montenegro, in particular the Bay of Kotor and Kotor itself, is an extremely popular destination among Ukrainian tourists. In 2019, almost 100,000 Ukrainian citizens visited Montenegro, and Ukrainians are in 4th place among all tourists in the country. It was expected that this year the number of Ukrainian tourists will be much higher, but the COVID-19 pandemic does not yet allow to implement these plans.

For his part, the mayor of Kotor J. Aprkovych announced plans for the development of the city, in particular, the construction of the bypass road around Kotor, introduction of alternative public transport, vertical transport to Lovchen and St. John's Fortress, improving the environment in Boka Kotorska Bay and maritime tourism infrastructure in general. The mayor stressed that Kotor, according to the Daily Mail, is one of the most beautiful ports in the world and is expected to attract much more tourists and expand the tourist season for the whole year after attracting global hotel brands.

The parties agreed to strengthen cooperation and identify new future areas of bilateral cooperation.
